TASTEBUD REVELRY AT CHURCHGATE

If there's one more reason to have a power lunch at Churchgate, it's thanks to the Cambattas and their new restaurant 'Starters and More' in the Eros cinema building.'Starters and More' packs a punch with it's view overlooking the recently renovated Oval Maidan and the Rajabai Towers. The seating is spacious and the huge glass panes allow ample sunlight to filter in, making the place look bright and airy during lunchtime. In the evenings, there's a soft sunlight that complements the lighting in the restaurant interiors giving it subtlety and ambience.

The elevated bar at the head of the restaurant is long enough to linger over with friends or on one's own and with its competitive bar menu stands next to an 'Open Kitchen' where guests are welcome to check out the hygiene and gastronomic levels maintained in the kitchen.

Specially selected music can be heard on a jukebox and the restaurant provides a projector with a video screen for visual accompaniment. Decibel levels are optimum, enough to keep a conversation going on even keel without having to worry about losing one's sanity, observe a select few who've been privy to experiencing the confines of the 3,000 square feet restaurant.

Ah, yes, the food. The executive lunch is priced at Rs 250 per head inclusive of all taxes from noon - 3.30 p.m.. It includes veg./non veg. soups, a selection of 15 salads with a choice of dressings, a main course, five delectable desserts, coffee and soft drinks.

As the name suggests there is a wide array of mouth watering starters from practically every major global cuisine executed by chef Sanjay Malkani. For those who can't get enough there's 'More' -- a choice of exotic foods from the Mediterranean, Oriental to New World cuisine. For those in-between pangs the restaurant offers light snacks from 3.30 to 6.30 p.m.

Open until 11.00 p.m. 'Starters and More' is good food in an excellent ambience with service that's usually on the ball. Entertaining, scrumptious and relaxing -- a treat for the mind for those who believe that mealtimes indicate religiosity and passion.
